About us
Our approach
Practical conservation through community partnership across Kenya’s water towers.
← About us
Rhino Ark’s week starts in the field: attendants walk fence lines, KWS and KFS teams sign off repairs, and community associations report what happened overnight. Nairobi and Nyeri offices turn those updates into budgets, patrol plans and school visits.
We hold to one principle in daily decisions: people and wildlife should both be able to live well beside Kenya’s mountain forests. That shows up in small choices, which energizer to replace, which CFA meeting to attend, which camera card to download first.
Our values
- Stewardship: treat each water tower as a long shift, not a one-year project
- Community: hire and listen from the fence line outward
- Innovation: try grids, gates and recycled posts when standard wire is not enough
- Collaboration: share credit and duty with agencies, donors and neighbours
Our Strategy
Strategy here is what crews repeat every season. Each item below is a standing rhythm, not a slogan:
- Plan fence routes with KWS and KFS, then pay community builders and attendants to keep them working
- Respond to conflict calls, wildfire alerts and snare reports with joint patrols where programmes exist
- Run schools curricula, livelihood pilots and CFA forums so conservation pays locally
- Publish maps, assessments and accounts so partners see the same numbers we use in the field
- Raise funds through Rhino Charge, grants and gifts tied to named landscapes
- Block illegal logging, grazing and charcoal where fences and patrols create leverage
